Focus on animal welfare

Animal-derived foodstuffs for humans demand a particular sense of responsibility from everyone involved in the production chain. The VION Food Group places great value on animal welfare, taking the concerns which many people have in this regard seriously.

VION considers its core tasks with regard to animal welfare to be its responsibility for animals

- during agricultural production

- at the slaughterhouse

- during transport

In this context VION not only relies on legal regulations but also develops its own additional programmes to ensure a high degree of animal welfare. Scientific studies form the basis of these activities. Over and above this VION maintains an ongoing dialogue with animal welfare associations.

Together with animal welfare organisations and numerous other companies in industry, retail and the food sector VION is thus an active project partner in the “European Animal Welfare Platform” (www.animalwelfareplatform.eu).

Process controls only function if they are specified within the scope of a professional management structure focusing on continuous improvement and maximum customer orientation. To this end VION has implemented the DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 standard.
