The VION quality system provides a uniform standard for all our sites and the best possible support in our pursuit of customer orientation and continuous improvements. It is based on three core elements:

1. A consistent management system in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2008

This system integrates systematic management of process quality; food safety; environmental management and occupational safety, focusing on continuous improvements.

2. A standardised food safety concept certified in accordance with the International Food Standard (IFS) and recognized by major third country markets

The VION HACCP System integrates the highest possible requirements of various markets and standards into one consistent food safety concept. The central concept allows maximum attention to be placed on the carrying out of the controls required at our sites.

3. Quality programmes for agricultural production to ensure compliance with hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection requirements

VION is the motor for the development of the “Qualität und Sicherheit” quality programme (www.q-s.de). The programme’s main focus is on quality control at the agricultural level. Using the programme as its starting point VION is developing further quality and origin programmes.
Over and above this VION is working with organic suppliers within the scope of an Eco programme.

In Germany the key partner for the agricultural sector is the ‘Qualität und Sicherheit’ monitoring system. This programme monitors compliance with hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection requirements with regard to pig and cattle farming by means of regular independent audits. We actively support the anchoring of the programme in cattle farming by means of a dedicated policy of bonuses.

QS, quality and safety, describes a multi-tiered quality control system for meat and meat products in Germany. All phases of production are monitored regularly, from animal feed manufacturers and farmers right through to food retailers. As a result information regarding quality control in every phase of production can be provided and traceability guaranteed through the entire chain, right back to the animal feed supplier.

VION offers you organic meat based on a tried-and-tested system to guarantee the high requirements made on organic foodstuffs. In this context we work together with certified BIO farmers. An independent certification agency monitors traceability at participating slaughterhouses and processing plants.
